As a tutor, I am often asked by my students for practice problems during sessions. Practice problems are a large part of success in Organic Chemistry. The fact is, the more you practice the material, whether it’s stereoisomerism, conformational analysis, reactions and reaction mechanisms, or synthesis, the better you will become at solving problems, and that’s the key for doing well in this course. One of my favorite ways of absorbing the huge amount of reactions in this course is reaction wheels. In a reaction wheel, one reactant is used to make many products. The goal of the wheel is to fill in the reagents necessary to transform the reactant into each product. Practicing with reaction wheels helps you to recall the material more rapidly and the more rapidly you can recall the material. the better you will do on exams. You will find several reaction wheels under the OChem I and II practice problem tabs. Click on each image to enlarge it.
